High Definition Systems Remove Wiring Challenge
Terry Costlow, Contributing Editor -- Design News, February 4, 2008
Wiring a home entertainment system can be frustrating enough to prompt thoughts of using wires to strangle someone. That gruesome possibility is eliminated with the Wireless High-Definition Audiovisual system developed by Fujitsu Microelectronics America Inc. and Sigma Designs. Sigma’s Wireless HDAV technology uses Ultra-WideBand (UWB) encoding technologies to wirelessly link a television and set-top box or high-definition DVD player.
Sigma’s SMP8634 Secure Media Processor decoder and UWB Windeo chipset use Intelligent Array Radio (IAR) technology, which ensures reliability and delivers through-wall and range extension capabilities.
