High and dry
For many years, Whirlpool and Sears have offered a dryer rack that provides a well-ventilated platform to dry items that should be tumble-dried, including tennis shoes, stuffed toys and pillows, and knitted wool. The rack easily lifts in and out of the drum and effectively dries items quietly and safely. Readers can access our website at www.whirlpool.com to check out all of our accessories or visit a Sears store.

Dryer drum corps?
For the reader looking to develop a shoe-drying device (DN Letters 7/19/99), why stop there? Vertical, V-shaped slits cut into the dryer’s drum bumpers or ribs would allow one to insert and stretch an untold number of sneaker strings-allowing the sneakers to hang joyfully midstream or otherwise. You would probably have extra slits leftover to stretch the strings of your wet bikini or clam diggers (knee-height pants with a drawstring belt for those folks under 30). If slits are properly cut aerodynamically, musical tones could be played as the moving air passes through them. Songs could be changed through various string/slot combinations. Boxes of Tide could come with sheet music for playing a jaunty tune while your sneakers dry. In fact, one could picture a complete symphonic orchestra being played on rows and rows of dryers with sneakers eagerly flipping around. The marketing ideas are endless.

Dream on
One reason I like Design News is your reviews of cars from an engineer’s perspective (Jaguar S-Type steppin’ out in style, 6/7/99). The reviews are fun to read because they focus on "dream cars".
One item that would make the articles more complete for us "dreamers" would be a table with the suggested retail prices and the usual car specs. This information would not only make the articles more complete, but would provide your readers some thought when going into their next salary review!
