Nituff(reg) metal finishing process creates a hard wear- and corrosion-resistant finish on aluminum. In some applications, the Nituff process can permit the substitution of aluminum for heavier metals, contributing to a reduction in overall vehicle weight. Applications include transmission metering valves and window guide devices. Tests have shown that Nituff is a viable finish for aluminum turbocharger impellers, and the coating is also being tested for use on shock absorbers.
