Buck-Boost transformers are for changing line voltages by small amounts. With nameplate sizes from 50 VA to 10 kVA, these small, single-phase, dry-type distribution transformers have a dual-voltage primary and secondary. The transformers can be connected for a range of voltage combinations. When connected as an autotransformer, these units can handle loads up to 20 times the nameplate rating. Hardshell(reg)-encapsulated on sizes 5 kVA and below, the Buck-Boost transformers are for motor loads, HVAC applications, low-voltage lighting, and situations that require correction of sustained high- or low-voltage conditions.
