The FMS8000 denier transducer incorporates a highly sensitive, non-contact sensor and circuit to calculate the yarn's denier or mass by translating the mass measurement to a proportional electrical signal. The raw measurement signal, which rapidly follows denier variations, is sampled and digitized at the transducer level. Denier and standard deviation calculations are determined from a predetermined number of data samples. The sensor's self-contained microprocessor also performs flaw analysis, based on the digitized, high-frequency analog signal.
