Satellite Radio Comes Home with Pioneer Electronics
Terry Costlow, contributing editor -- Design News, March 19, 2007
Pioneer Electronics USA Inc. is offering three receivers that augment conventional inputs with both Sirius and XM Satellite Radio and the seemingly ubiquitous iPod docking station. A 180 MIPS Processing DSP from Freescale provides 5.1 surround sound for movies and XM broadcasts. The chip also enables Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration, which automatically tunes the system to account for the layout of the listening area. The VSX line can also replicate surround sound with all speakers in front of listeners, eliminating the need for rear speaker wiring.
