PSE Ex switch series meets the ignition protection class requirements of EN-standard 50020 for intrinsically safe applications. The switches are for use in potentially explosive environments where the atmosphere contains combustible gases, vapors, dust, or fibers that can be set off by an electrical spark. The actuators are fully electronic, and the switching element is a piezoelectric disk, which is completely sealed in a one-piece metal casing. The non-mechanical, contact-free switching system eliminates the hazard of mechanical ignition.
