High-Def Goes Mobile
Terry Costlow, Contributing Editor -- Design News, September 22, 2008
High-definition video cameras are broadening their reach, replacing portable cameras used for field reporting. Panasonic's P2 HD Professional-Broadcast High-Definition Camera-Recorders are compact and lightweight, providing superior mobility. They also store images on high-density Flash memory storage instead of traditional tapes, simplifying field production and editing while increasing mechanical reliability. Altera Corp.'s Cyclone III FPGAs handle HD video processing, interfacing to P2 memory cards and LCD display control. That line is used because it has high ratios of memory-to-logic and DSP-to-logic.
