High Speeds Facilitate Large Transfers

By Terry Costlow, Contributing Editor -- Design News, August 11, 2008

It's getting much simpler for consumers and small business employees to share data without the hassle of routing wires. IOGear is shipping a Wireless USB hub that transmits data at up to 480 Mbits/sec, nearly double the 240 Mb/s rate of 802.11n. The hub has four USB 2.0 ports and can associate with up to three different laptop or desktop computers at speeds that handle video, audio and picture files. Data can also be sent to printers, scanners, MP3 players and external hard drives. NEC Electronics' uPD720180 USB device wire adapter chip powers the hub.
