Luminescence detectors

Luminescence detectors read invisible ultraviolet markings to eliminate the need for visible marks on products. Highly versatile, the sensors can be used to verify critical processes, provide presence and position sensing, enhance quality control, and perform part counting and product ID. Compact design and ruggedized metal housing sealed to IP65 allow use in both indoor and outdoor applications. The detectors read UV markings applied on wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, paper or textiles with chalk, wax, or powders. Reading UV markers mixed into glues, sealants, and solvents, the sensors confirm that items have been correctly coated and joined.

Lighting technology

Lighting technology provides uniform, high-output backlighting for low-power situations. This product is for use with standard LCD modules as well as chip-on-glass or "tab"-driven LCDs, and can be applied to high-volume applications where power, brightness, and cost are of prime consideration. A panel design spreads the light uniformly across the active area. Mechanical "holding" features can be designed into the backlight to mount the LCD or other components, reducing assembly and material costs. Panels can also support conductive rubber keypads and still provide uniform lighting.

Movement system

PowerFlexTM movement consists of a brass movement with polyester segment suspended between two spring members, the bourdon tube above, and a link wire below. The spring-suspended design reduces the level of destructive forces transmitted to the precision-moving parts, extending wear life in applications where shock, vibration, and pulsation are present, and provides increased gauge life and stability. A conventional-geared movement consists of 13 parts. The PowerFlex movement design eliminates the need for nine of these components, thus reducing the wear on bearing and gearing surfaces.

Screws

Socket-drive polytops are self-colored, polymer-headed assembly screws. They blend with most materials, and can be used in visible positions on products. These socket-drive fasteners are ideal for signage, RVs, appliances, furniture, juvenile furniture, toys, and lawn, medical, and laboratory equipment. A 12-point bi-hexagon format protects work surfaces from socket contact, allows the use of smaller diameter heads, and saves weight. The large number of flats spread torque stresses evenly during tightening, and the relatively small driving diameter helps accessibility in awkward assemblies. Socket-drive polytops are suitable for tamper-resistant applications because they cannot be removed with ordinary hex sockets.

In-mold decorating

In-mold decorating technology combines the art of printing, forming, and injection molding into an efficient process that can be used on any application that is currently decorated after molding. The procedure includes printing graphics onto a thin polycarbonate sheet, die cutting, then placing the insert in a mold and shooting resin into the mold around the insert. The insert bonds to the molding resin to form the finished part. Because the graphics are inlaid in the part, they won't scratch or peel off, and the scrap rate is low. The in-mold process enables designers to add colors and design nuances easily because the graphics are pre-printed.

Valves

Flow of air or liquids through two-way Posiflow direct-acting valves is proportional to the electrical input and is continuously adjustable between zero and 100% of the valve's flow rate. The valves provide high-performance when used in conjunction with an optional electronic control unit. The valves can be used to replace the two or three conventional valves usually required to provide varying flow rates in many applications requiring controlled flow. Low power requirements allow the valves to be operated from a distance and, because a built-in circuit automatically adjusts for changes in coil resistance due to temperature changes, they may be installed in a wide variety of locations.

Shock absorbers

CB Series hydropneumatic shock absorbers are an effective mechanism for emergency deceleration of overhead cranes and large industrial equipment. Applications include conveyors, turntables, dockside equipment, bridges, and flood gates. During normal operation at low velocity, the units provide minimal pneumatic resistance. In an emergency or high-velocity condition, the shock absorbers respond hydraulically to protect the installation from damaging reaction forces by providing controlled deceleration. In order to achieve maximum energy absorption with the smallest possible shock absorber, each unit is produced with internal orificing that matches the needs of the application.

Measurement system

Digital-power measurement system utilizes fiberoptic data transmission to provide true-power monitoring and display. The system embodies a multi-function power-measurement transducer with a fiberoptic data link to an LCD panel for measurement display. The transducer monitors the power-line parameters for both three- and four-wire, three-phase, unbalanced configurations, and uses those parameters to calculate line voltage, current, frequency, power, volt-amp, volt-amp-reactive, power factor, and phase angle. This information is transmitted to the display using a single fiber-optic cable, thus reducing wiring, and simplifying cable trays and panel wiring.
