Hydraulic jack hose is tough

Parker Hannifin Corp. Hose Products Div. now offers hose for hydraulic jacking equipment. "Jack hose" is engineered from tough abrasion- and wear-resistant materials for hydraulic jacking equipment that is hard on hose products.

"We've always had hose that works with hydraulic jacks," says Matt DiDonato, an engineer and product sales manager at Parker Hannifin. "But now, we offer hose that is specifically designed for jacks."

Jack hose exceeds Society of Automotive Engineers 100R2 requirements. Its inner tube is made from Nitrile. The hose also has twin braids of high-tensile steel wire reinforcement that make it strong and capable of withstanding frequent bending and twisting.

A black synthetic MSHA-accepted rubber cover makes the hose resistant to damage from oil, harsh weather conditions, and abrasion that occurs in places such as construction sites and industrial plants where hydraulic jacking equipment use is common.

The maximum working pres-sure for the new hydraulic hose product is 10,000 psi. The minimum burst pressure for Jack hose is 20,000 psi.

Its inner Nitrile inner tube is approved for use with petroleum-based hydraulic fluids. The hose is fully functional within a temperature range of -40 to 160F (-40 to 71C).

A no-skive design eliminates the need to remove the hose cover before crimping. The new hose works with the company's 43 Series male pipe fittings. The fittings have a zinc dichromate finish that also resists corrosion.

The hydraulic hose works with Parker Hannifin's Parkrimp family of hose crimpers.

These in-shop crimping machines are portable.

Jack hose has an inside diameter of ¼ or 3/8 inch. The outside diameters are 0.59 and 0.75 inch. The minimum bend radius for the ¼ hose is four inches (100 mm). The 3/8 hose has a bed radius of five inches (125 mm). Parker Hannifin, www.parker.com. Enter 644

Gear pumps

The Fully-Jacketed internal gear pumps are designed to offer twice the heat transfer surface area in below-zero temperature environments. Pumps are available with pressures up to 280 psi, in eleven sizes from 15 to 1,100 gpm, and with the option of stainless steel, steel, ductile iron, or cast iron material. Reportedly handling viscosities up to 2,000,000 SSU and withstanding temperatures up to 800F, the pumps are used in batch delivery, process metering, and transfer applications. Fluid dynamics software

CFX-5.5 Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, used in rotating machinery applications and in the chemical and manufacturing industries, offers meshing tools, new models, and a new post-processor. The models include turbulence models, combustion and radiation models, and free surface flow capability. Fluid dynamics software also features the Generalized Grid Interface (GGI), providing more flexibility and generating meshes. CFX, www.cfx.aeat.com. Enter 646

Actuator

This actuator, designed for conveyor-stop applications, features the EF1 PTFE-impregnated base cylinder for space-saving uses. Engineered for impact resistance due to its oversized piston rod diameter, the cylinder reportedly offers impact load resistance up to 65 lbs. Cylinder is available in a 32 mm bore, and in stroke lengths of 10, 15, 20, and 25 mm. Bimba Manufacturing Co., www.bimba.com. Enter 647
