The TNR family of polyvinyl chloride compounds uses a compatibilizer to create a flexible nylon/PVC alloy. The end result of the joining of these two polymers is an alloy that combines the toughness of nylon with the flexibility and soft touch of PVC. The initial use of TNR is heavy-duty wire, which is currently a co-extrusion of a PVC jacket and an outer abrasion-resistant nylon layer.
